The vast majority of Americans are not saving enough for retirement. And it’s really no surprise. The demands and desires of daily living take priority over saving for a life that seems to be a lifetime away.

So, we set out to reframe how people think about retirement. Not as an end but rather the beginning to a whole new life. A life that was all about pursuing personal passions. Something to get excited about. Something worth planning and saving for. Something amazing.

And to bring this amazing future closer into view, we partnered with The Player’s Tribune and NFL. The average NFL career is just 3.3 years long. That’s it. Aside from the superstars, the majority are retired from the game and onto their second act by their late 20’s.

Over the course of two seasons, we featured a squad of “retirement rookies” who had just entered the pros. Sony Michel, Saquon Barkley, Dante Pettis, Eric Ebron, Phillip Lindsey and DK Metcalf to name a few. We asked them share to their plans for life after football, and to sum that plan up into three words.

We brought their stories to life through a series of articles, animated shorts, live action video and audiograms, featured on CBS Sports and The Players Tribune properties. To amplify the reach, our athletes posted their plans and content on their own social channels.

And we invited viewers to use our interactive plan generator to create their own three-word Plan for Amazing. Which ultimately led to the creation of more than 27,000 users’ plans, and earned us all Clio award.
